The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted a parcel at the Paircargo Warehouse in Pasay City containing approximately 32 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine). The street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around PHP 218,484,000.

The shipment, initially declared as "machinery muffler" from Zimbabwe, underwent rigorous scrutiny by various security measures. These included profiling by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, x-ray screening by the X-Ray Inspection Project, k9-dog sniffing, and physical examination. These efforts led to the discovery of the illicit substance concealed inside the supposedly innocent mufflers.

In a coordinated operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), the consignee was apprehended. Authorities are preparing to file appropriate charges for violations of the Customs Modernization Tariff Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

NAIA District Collector, Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, highlighted the efficacy of the airport's border security measures. She emphasized that the seizure underscores the effectiveness of the Bureau's policies on border protection, praising the vigilance of the port's customs officers.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio praised the efforts of the Port, affirming their commitment to combatting the influx of illegal drugs into the country.
