11.2K Zambo families get PNP aid amid Covid-19 crisis

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) has provided relief assistance to some 11,231 poor families across Zamboanga Peninsula through the Philippine National Police's “Adopt a Family Program.”

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 director, said Tuesday the program is PRO-9’s contribution to government efforts in easing the impact of the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis on poor families.

Aside from leading the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measures, Quidilla noted PRO-9 is also helping indigent families by regularly providing them with food packs, grocery items, vegetables, and other food supplies.

As of Sunday (May 3), the PRO-9 headquarters assisted a total of 939 families; Zamboanga City Police Office helped 5,000 families; Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office aided 400 indigent families; Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office helped 451 families; Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office “adopted” 121 families; Isabela City Police Office helped 34 families, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 helped 4,288 families.

Quidilla lauded the "generous act" of all PRO-9 personnel and other Good Samaritans for donating various food items to help the less fortunate families affected by the pandemic. (PNA)
