CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Government forces arrested on Sunday two persons for possession of illegal drugs and a fragmentation grenade at a quarantine checkpoint in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) commander, said soldiers and police personnel manning a quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Impao, Isulan, noticed two men acting restlessly when subjected to inspection.
Carreon, also the commander of Joint Task Force Central, said a team of personnel from 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion seized two sachets of shabu and a grenade from Nhot Linandang Kasan and Ryan Yusup.
The suspects, both residents of Barangay Impao, were onboard a white Nissan Navara pickup truck when accosted by law enforcers.
“Soldiers first found two sachets of shabu from the suspects. Upon searching the vehicle, a fragmentation grenade was found at the car’s compartment,” Carreon said.
The suspects were brought to Isulan municipal police for proper disposition and the filing of cases in violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and Republic Act 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosive Device). (PNA)
