Investigation revealed that Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Calumpit police received a report from a concerned citizen on the selling of alcoholic beverages despite liquor ban in the said barangay.

Authorities nabbed the suspects, who were selling 19 bottles of 750ml Emperador Light in two boxes of coconut brand soy sauce. A bottle of liquor was sold at PHP140 which is higher than the suggested retail price of PHP103.

The suspects are now facing cases for violation of Republic Act 11469 or the “Bayanihan Act”, RA 11332, RA 7581 as amended by RA 10623 “Price Act (profiteering)”, and Article 151 of RPC “Resistance and Disobedience to Agents of Person in Authority".

"The Bulacan police is stern and relentless in the implementation of “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” and will not cease to go after the individuals who sell alcoholic beverages and violated liquor ban," Protacio said. (PNA)
