1 Dead In Maritime Incident In Corcuera, Romblon

In response to a maritime incident in the waters off Corcuera, Romblon, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) swiftly acted after the MBCA KING STO. NIÑO 7 set sail from the Port of Calatrava to the Port of Corcuera around 1 PM on August 5, 2023.

According to PCG personnel deployed in the area, the weather was sunny and calm at the time of the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.

The passenger boat, which has a maximum capacity of 96, had 95 passengers on board, including five crew members, along with a motorcycle.

Around 3 PM, the PCG search and rescue (SAR) team reached Barangay Ilijan, Corcuera, rescuing individuals on board the MBCA MARK JET 4 and MBCA CORCUERA LINERS INC vessels.

Unfortunately, one passenger, a 55-year-old woman on MBCA KING STO. NIÑO 7, passed away due to cardiac arrest, as confirmed by the attending physician.
