128 players have officially submitted their names for the upcoming PBA Season 48 draft, exceeding the previous record of 97 applicants during Season 46. The deadline for applications closed on Sunday, September 10, 2023, with a rush of last-minute submissions reaching the league's offices, including well-known individuals such as Ricci Rivero, Schonny Winston, Zav Lucero, Brent Paraiso, and others.

The remarkable number of applicants has increased anticipation for the eagerly awaited event scheduled for September 17, marking the league's first official function for the new season. With a wealth of talent in the pool, fans and analysts eagerly await the draft selections.

However, the fate of these 128 hopefuls remains uncertain. The league has planned a two-day Draft Combine on September 12 and 13 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong. This event will serve as a critical evaluation period, allowing prospects to demonstrate their skills and athleticism to PBA scouts and team executives. Depending on the Combine results, the final list of draftees may be narrowed down to ensure the best fit for each team.

Terrafirma will have the privilege of making the first selection on draft day, followed closely by Blackwater. Rain or Shine holds the next two picks, with NorthPort and Phoenix completing the top five selections. NLEX and Meralco also possess early picks, generating significant intrigue and speculation about which talents will be chosen to strengthen these teams.

Further down the draft order, Converge possesses consecutive picks at numbers 9 and 10, followed by NorthPort and Terrafirma. With such an abundance of talent available, the PBA Season 48 draft promises to be a captivating event, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
