In a collaborative effort between the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a significant breakthrough was achieved in the fight against illegal drugs. Operating units including Kalingalan Caluang MPS, PDEA SULU BARMM, 74th Special Action Company, 7th Special Action Battalion of Special Action Force, SULU PPO PIU, 1st PMFC, 2nd PMFC, CIDG IX, RIU IX, NICA BARMM, and 4th RMFB conducted a joint operation on June 6, 2023, in Sitio Tubig Baba, Brgy. Pitogo, Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu.

The operation successfully led to the eradication of an extensive marijuana plantation cultivated by a certain MADDI KHAN, also known as "MADDI," and his cohorts. The clandestine marijuana farm covered an estimated area of 15,000 square meters and contained fully grown marijuana plants with an approximate value of PhP12,900,000.00. The joint forces uprooted and destroyed the illegal plantation, with three samples of the uprooted plants sent to the Sulu Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for further examination.

PNP Chief Police General Benjamin C Acorda Jr. commended the operation, stating, "The successful execution of this operation marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region. It highlights the unwavering commitment of the PNP, PDEA, and AFP in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities."

By dismantling a major marijuana production site, law enforcement authorities have disrupted the illicit drug supply chain, striking a blow against criminal activities that contribute to social instability and harm society as a whole. General Acorda emphasized the commitment of the PNP, PDEA, and AFP to intensify the fight against illegal drugs and dismantle criminal networks. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts and continued intelligence sharing among these agencies in eradicating drug production, distribution, and abuse, as part of their mission to provide unified service to the people.

General Acorda also expressed his appreciation to the residents of Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu, for their support and cooperation throughout the operation. The success achieved in this joint operation serves as a testament to the power of unified efforts within the law enforcement community and reaffirms their determination to create a safer and drug-free society.
Authorities are now preparing cases for violation of Sec. 16, Art. II of R.A 9165 against the arrested suspects, as they continue their relentless pursuit of justice and the eradication of illegal drug activities.
