17 Injured In Korean Restaurant Explosion In Calapan City Oriental Mindoro

Mr. Won's Samgyeopsal Korean Restaurant in Xentro Mall, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro was rocked by a powerful explosion on Thursday, June 29.
According to eyewitnesses, an unidentified object detonated inside the restaurant, causing extensive damage. Initial reports indicate that 17 individuals have been rushed to the hospital, including four employees, a delivery boy, and several customers.
The neighboring Red Ribbon and the newly constructed Dunkin' Donuts stores also suffered shattered glass due to the force of the blast. The grand opening of Dunkin' Donuts, scheduled for Friday, June 30, has been postponed indefinitely.
Authorities, including the Calapan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Tamara Fire Volunteer Brigade, City Health Office, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management (PDRRM), and Coast Guard, swiftly responded to the incident. Their immediate priority was to assist the injured and affected individuals while launching an investigation into the cause of the explosion.
As a precautionary measure, the remaining occupants of the mall were promptly evacuated, and the surrounding roads were closed. Gas and electrical connections throughout the mall were immediately shut off to ensure everyone's safety.
The authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances leading to the explosion. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
