49th MMFF Announces Diverse Winners

The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced its winners during the Gabi ng Parangal held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

"Firefly" emerged as the shining star of the evening, capturing the coveted title of Best Picture and Best Screenplay. Eunwenn Mikaell's stellar performance earned the young talent the prestigious Best Child Performer award, adding to the film's triumph.

"Gomburza" clinched the position of 2nd Best Picture and proved its directorial prowess as Pepe Diokno claimed the Best Director accolade. Cedrick Juan's powerful portrayal earned him the title of Best Actor, while the film also dominated technical categories with awards for Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Sound. The Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award further solidified "Gomburza's" cultural impact.


"Mallari" captivated audiences and the judging panel, earning the accolade of 3rd Best Picture. JC Santos' remarkable performance secured him the Best Supporting Actor title, while the film also triumphed in technical categories with awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Musical Score.


"When I Met You in Tokyo" left an indelible mark, securing the title of 4th Best Picture. Vilma Santos' captivating portrayal earned her the esteemed Best Actress award, and the film's enchanting Float design garnered recognition. The late Fernando Poe Jr.'s legacy was honored with the FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence.

"Family of Two" contributed to the evening's celebration with Miles Ocampo winning the Best Supporting Actress award.

The FDCP, through its Philippine Cinema Funding Program , played a crucial role in supporting the official entries of the 49th MMFF. Each film received PHP500,000, providing essential aid for their festival campaigns and marketing efforts.
