5.0-magnitude Quake hits Surigao del Sur

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the province of Surigao del Sur, Sunday, February 19, 2023, at 12:47 PM, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The earthquake had a depth of 51 kilometers and its epicenter was located at 9.06°N, 126.14°E, about 3 kilometers south and 63 degrees west of the City of Tandag.

Phivolcs reported that the earthquake was felt at Intensity III in the City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur and in the nearby City of Butuan, Agusan del Sur.

The City of Tandag also reported an instrumental intensity of Intensity I, along with the City of Surigao, Surigao Del Norte and Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. Cagwait, Surigao del Sur reported an Intensity II, while the City of Surigao only felt Intensity I.
