6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Dalupiri Island

A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Dalupiri Island in the Philippines on the morning of October 4, 2023.
The earthquake, with a depth of 10 kilometers, was recorded at 11:35 AM local time.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at approximately 22 kilometers north and 10 degrees east of Dalupiri Island (Calayan), in the Cagayan region.
Shockwaves were felt throughout the region, prompting residents to rush to open spaces and seek safety.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the earthquake registered an instrumental intensity of IV in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
Residents are advised to remain cautious as aftershocks are expected.
