'About Us, But Not About Us': Unveiling Secrets in a Thrilling Drama

"About Us But Not About Us" is a gripping drama thriller that delves into the lives of Eric, a literature professor at the English Department of the University of the Philippines, and his student Lancelot.

The story begins with Eric (Romnick Sarmenta), who is struggling to come to terms with the death of Marcus.

He meets up with Lancelot (Elijah Canlas), his rumored lover, in an attempt to understand the truth behind Marcus' suicide.

As their conversation progresses over the course of a meal, secrets and lies are gradually revealed, and the true nature of their identities is uncovered.

The psychological drama was written and directed by Jun Robles Lana, and was produced by Octoberian Films, The Ideafirst Company, and Quantum Films.

Big Winner at the 1st Summer Metro Manila Film Festival

"About Us But Not About Us" was the film that dominated the inaugural Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal, receiving a total of 10 awards.

The psychological drama thriller won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Jun Robles Lana, as well as Best Actor for Romnick Sarmenta, and Special Jury Prize for Elijah Canlas.

The film also received recognition in technical categories, such as Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Musical Score, and Best Sound Design.

It was produced by Octoberian Films, The Ideafirst Company, and Quantum Films.

In an Instagram post on April 12, director and writer Lana expressed his gratitude for winning awards in the film festival.

"This is amazing. Thank you to the MMFF jury for embracing something that's new and different. A big shoutout and love to my brilliant team without whom my vision for this film would not have been attained," he said.

On the same day, Canlas also shared his joy on Facebook.

He said he dedicated his award to a friend who recently died.

"I want to dedicate this to my dear friend who recently passed. If you are experiencing any form of mental health problem, please don’t hesitate to seek help from your friends, family or professionals. Kapit lang. And to everyone else — depression is real. Stop the stigma. And I think we could all be better in being there for each other. Let’s all try to be kinder. Bubuti din lahat."
