In a press briefing during the ongoing Ugnayang Panlungsod session, Mayor Benjamin Magalong officially declared an acute gastroenteritis outbreak in Baguio City. The mayor said they are implementing rigorous measures to curb the health emergency.

As part of the emergency response, Magalong has directed authorities to conduct massive testing of water sources, including scrutinizing water delivery companies and deep wells. The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) police investigators have been mobilized to collaborate with the Baguio City Health Service Office (CHSO) and Baguio Water District personnel to expedite data gathering and water testing operations.

The CHSO has received a total of 1,602 incident reports, affecting 218 establishments and 80 households.

To mitigate further risks, food establishments have been advised to cease serving tap and filtered water and instead offer only purified water to customers. Households are urged to use purified water or boiled tap water, and residents are encouraged to bring their own water when dining out.
