A young college student has been reported missing last February 18, 2023, and was last seen at the JAC Liner Buendia Bus Terminal in Manila. John Matthew T. Salilig, a student of Adamson University, was wearing his university uniform under a red Puma hoodie when he was last seen at around 10:26 am.

According to reports, John's phone battery went down, and his close contacts were not able to reach him after that. His brothers immediately filed a police report, and the university also launched its own investigation.

Sadly, on February 23, the university confirmed the unfortunate news that John had passed away. In an official statement, Adamson University expressed its condolences to John's family and friends and vowed to cooperate with the authorities on the matter.

The university also reminded its community to be mindful and vigilant of their activities, both inside and outside the campus, and to contact the Office for Campus Security and Safety or the Office for Student Affairs in case of any concerns.

The university management urged everyone to refrain from sharing unverified information and to keep John's family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Adamson University assured its students, faculty, personnel, alumni, friends, and visitors that the campus remains a safe place, and they will ensure that it stays that way.

TRISKELION Imus Statement

In a statement released today, the Triskelion Council of Imus City expressed their strong condemnation of the recent hazing incident that resulted in the death of Salilig. The council, made up of officials and members of the Triskelions' Grand Fraternity, emphasized that the incident was a clear violation of the law, particularly the Anti-Hazing Law or Republic Act No. 11053.

"We, as members of the Tau Gamma Phi, firmly denounce this inhumane act and it goes against our beliefs as a fraternity," the statement read.

The council also expressed their willingness to cooperate with the victim's family in seeking justice for their loved one, stating that they stand in solidarity with them and the entire fraternity in calling for accountability for those involved in the incident.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Matt Salilig. We will not let this incident pass without holding those responsible accountable to the law," the statement continued.
