Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief Romeo Brawner disclosed the existence of a purported destabilization plot involving former AFP officials against the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Brawner emphasized the importance of unity within the military and urged active personnel not to participate in any destabilization efforts.
Speaking to a gathering of military personnel, he stressed the significance of unifying the AFP into a cohesive and professional organization.
He pointed out that there have been growing concerns about destabilization efforts, with some individuals advocating for the replacement of the President through various means, including coup d'état.
Notably, some of these voices supporting destabilization have affiliations with the military.
Brawner cautioned military officers and enlisted personnel against participating in any movements that could undermine the country's stability and democracy.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the professionalism and non-partisan nature of the armed forces.
Brawner made a heartfelt plea to his fellow countrymen, urging them to give the nation a chance to move forward and progress, rather than resorting to destabilizing actions. He assured that the AFP would respond swiftly and judiciously if any active personnel were found to be involved in such activities.
