In a recent interview with Boy Abunda, Alden Richards opened up about his experience during the "AlDub" era and confessed to falling for his on-screen partner, Maine Mendoza.
The actor also discussed the concept of their "breakup" and expressed his gratitude towards his fans.
During the interview, Boy Abunda asked Alden, "In your career, do you consider AlDub as your biggest romance and also your biggest breakup?"
Alden responded, "Ah, Romance, yes, Tito Boy. There were many opportunities that came into my life because of it, and I'm very grateful for that. I'm very grateful to Eat Bulaga. By all means, sincerely, because it felt like that's where I truly realized that when you work hard for something and ask the Lord for it, He may not give it to you when you want it, but He always has this magic of giving it at the right timing. But breakup, Tito Boy, yes."
Boy Abunda further inquired, "So, AlDub was also a breakup?"
Alden clarified, "A breakup, but let's remove the negative context of breakup from this conversation about AlDub. Because it doesn't necessarily mean that when you're going through a breakup, it's always bad, painful, or sad. It was a breakup because both Maine and I needed growth. We needed to venture into our individual lives to learn more."
The conversation took a more personal turn when Boy Abunda asked, "Did you fall for Maine Mendoza?"
Alden candidly replied, "Yes, Tito Boy, yes, I did."
Respecting Maine's current marital status, Boy Abunda decided not to delve deeper into the topic. Instead, he shifted the focus to Alden's fans and their unwavering support. Boy Abunda inquired, "You're very open in your interviews now, and you've mentioned that you gave your all. What did you lose from the AlDub experience?"
Alden reflected, "I didn't lose anything. I believe in the concept that everything we experience in life, every moment, every person we meet, it's meant to happen. It's premeditated by our Creator, the Lord. I'd like to give all the credit to Him because everything that happens in my life, whether good or bad, is meant to be. There's a lesson to be learned, and there are things you need to experience personally, as opposed to just hearing advice from someone else."
Finally, Boy Abunda asked Alden to describe his fans.
Alden responded, "My fans are simple, Tito Boy. They're not perfect, and I'm not perfect either. But one thing is clear, and for sure, I love my fans very much."
