Tropical Depression "AmangPH" made landfall at Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued at 5:00 PM on April 12, 2023.
Based on all available data, including those from Daet Doppler Weather Radar, the center of Tropical Depression "AmangPH" was estimated to be in the vicinity of Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, at 13.8°N, 123.5°E. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1004 hPa. The tropical depression is moving slowly northwestward.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) are in effect, with TCWS No. 1 raised in several areas in Luzon. These include Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Laguna, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija, including Pollilo Islands. Strong winds with speeds ranging from 39 to 61 km/h (Beaufort 6 to 7) are expected, posing minimal to minor threats to life and property.
Heavy rainfall is also expected, with Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Quezon forecasted to receive 50-100 mm of accumulated rainfall in the next 24 hours. CALABARZON, Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and the southern portion of Aurora are also expected to receive 50-100 mm of accumulated rainfall in the next 3 days. This may result in isolated flash floods and rain-induced landslides, especially in areas identified as highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards in hazard maps and in localities that have experienced considerable amounts of rainfall in recent days.
Coastal areas are also advised to take precautionary measures as moderate to rough seas may be experienced over the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon in the next 24 hours, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 meters.
PAGASA forecasts that "AmangPH" will track generally northwestward in the next 24 hours, passing over the eastern localities in Camarines Sur before moving along the eastern coast of Camarines provinces and Quezon, with the possibility of passing near or over Polillo Islands. However, due to the weak and disorganized nature of the depression, considerable changes in the track forecast in succeeding bulletins are possible.
PAGASA also predicts that "AmangPH" is expected to weaken into a low pressure area by tomorrow, possibly earlier, due to land interaction, dry air intrusion, and increasing vertical wind shear.
