Tropical Depression "Amang" weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) on Thursday morning, but rainfall is still anticipated to continue in some parts of Luzon, the state weather bureau reported.
In today's weather advisory issued at 11:00 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA, formerly “Amang,” was last located over the coastal waters of Polillo, Quezon.
The LPA will bring heavy rainfall to most areas of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and CALABARZON, reaching up to 50mm in some locations, mostly in Aurora and Quezon in the next 24 hours.
This rainfall is expected to be caused by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, and it may result in isolated flash floods and rain-induced landslides, particularly in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards.
PAGASA said the remnant LPA is unlikely to bring rough seas over the country's coastal waters.
PAGASA also said that the remnant circulation of "Amang" is expected to track generally northwestward or west northwestward towards Polillo Islands and northern mainland Quezon. The weather disturbance may dissipate in the next 24 hours.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property.
