Governor Bonz Dolor of Oriental Mindoro confirmed the first cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province.

The infected cases originated from the Barangays of Danggay and Bagumbayan in the town of Roxas. Additional testing is underway in five more barangays in Roxas and one in Mansalay to ensure the safety of these identified areas.

In response, Dolor said that checkpoints have been established between Roxas and Bongabong, as well as Roxas and Mansalay. Effective immediately, the transport of pigs through Danggay Port or Roxas Port is prohibited.

The governor said he has also reached out to the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Director to expedite the delivery of test kits, eliminating the need to transport samples to the National Capital Region (NCR) for analysis.

Dolor is set to sign a new Executive Order outlining detailed measures to prevent the spread of ASF to other parts of the province. Additionally, he said he plans to request the Provincial Council to declare a State of Calamity for Roxas and Mansalay to expedite necessary actions.
