Kenneth Villapando and Rhinwil Yambing of San Sebastian, along with PBA 3x3 veteran Kim Aurin, showcased their skills on the opening day of the 2023 Gatorade Draft Combine held at the Gatorade Hoops gymnasium in Mandaluyong.

Villapando left spectators by recording the fastest time in the three-quarter-court sprint, clocking in at 2.81 seconds. Meanwhile, Yambing soared to new heights with the highest standing vertical leap of 34.5 inches.

Aurin, known for his time with Barangay Ginebra in the 3x3 tournament and On Tour, led a group of prospects in the reaction test, achieving a score of 100 percent. Joining him in this feat were Jose Carlos Cullar (La Salle), John Gob (UP), and Enoch Valdez (Lyceum).

Impressively, out of 128 applicants, only 14 were unable to participate in the two-day event, which is set to conclude on Wednesday.
Not to be outdone, Alwin Margallo claimed the top spot in the lane agility test, completing it in just 11.53 seconds.

In addition to these performances, some measurements were recorded. San Beda's Clifford Jopia stands as the tallest rookie in this year's batch, measuring in at 6-foot-7. On the other end of the spectrum, Raphael Mallari and Ryan Costelo share the distinction of being the smallest, both standing at 5-foot-5.
Larry Arpia, another talent from San Sebastian, set a new record in the max vertical leap category, reaching 43 inches. Meanwhile, former San Beda big man Kemark Carino, with experience in the Japan B. League, boasted the longest reach (standing) and wingspan, measuring at 105 and 86 inches, respectively. Tsutonomi Tateishi, previously associated with Santo Tomas and Benilde, matched Carino's standing reach at 105 inches.
