In a recent incident that took place in Poblacion, Makati, actress Awra Briguela, known for her role in "Ang Probinsiyano," was arrested following a scuffle at a bar early Thursday morning.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified Awra, whose real name is Mc Neal Briguela, as the primary suspect, charging her with physical injuries, alarm and scandal, direct assault, and disobedience to a person in authority.

The altercation occurred during a farewell party when Awra, 19 years old, and several others reportedly approached a group led by Mark Christian Ravana, resulting in a confrontation. According to Ravana's account given to the police, Awra followed him outside the bar and allegedly tore his shirt in a violent manner. The situation further escalated as Awra's friends joined in, as stated in the police report.

However, Awra's friends and netizens came to her defense on social media, stating that she was protecting her friend from a group of men who allegedly attempted to sexually harass her. Zayla Nakajima, who was present during the incident, shared in a now-deleted Facebook post that a man inside the bar had made inappropriate advances towards her, prompting Awra to calmly confront him after the party ended.

Awra's friends expressed their support on various platforms. Jahan Visperas posted on Facebook, emphasizing Awra's loyalty as a true friend, but expressed disappointment that the woman Awra defended disappeared during the commotion, leaving Awra alone. Zeinab Harake and Mika Salamanca also took to Twitter, praising Awra's unwavering love and commitment as a friend.

Riva Quenery, one of Awra's long-time best friends, shared her sentiments on Facebook, expressing sadness over the events. She visited Awra at the Makati police station, where Awra was detained, and witnessed Awra's injuries, including bruises and a large bump on her head.

Riva questioned why Awra was the only person arrested and faced multiple charges, such as assaulting a police officer, disobedience, and resisting arrest, despite video evidence showing her being restrained by bouncers and handcuffed by the police. Riva called for a thorough investigation and urged authorities to hold all individuals involved accountable.
