Bulacan Governor Declares Province Under State of Calamity After Typhoon Egay's Devastation

In response to the recommendation of Governor Daniel Fernando, the province of Bulacan has been placed under a state of calamity through Resolution No. 579-T’2023.
The recent Typhoon Egay, accompanied by SouthWest Monsoon (Habagat), brought heavy rainfall and flooding to many areas in Bulacan. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported that this calamity affected over 228,648 families from 171 barangays, resulting in two fatalities due to the strong winds and heavy rains. Moreover, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) recorded that more than 21,367 individuals or 5,631 families were evacuated.
The agriculture and fisheries sectors in the province were also severely affected by the calamity, with initial estimates of damages reaching Php 93,023,705.19 for crops and livestock, Php 7,677,100.00 for aquaculture and fisheries, and Php 500,000,000.00 for infrastructure.
