Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner Willie Marcial has imposed a hefty P100,000 fine on Magnolia's Calvin Abueva for his disrespectful mocking gesture directed at San Miguel Beer coach Jorge Gallent during Game 2 of the Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The incident occurred at the 9:52 mark of the fourth quarter, with Abueva openly mocking Gallent's physical disability in front of the public eye. This prompted Commissioner Marcial to invoke league rules, specifying that "any person who offends the dignity of any person on account of 'physical disability' shall be subject to a fine not lower than P100,000."

Abueva later conveyed to the commissioner that he had apologized to Gallent on the same night, and the San Miguel Beer coach graciously accepted the apology.

Today, Abueva and SMB forward Mo Tautuaa appeared before the PBA Commissioner, summoned regarding a separate shouting incident post-Game 2. After a conference with Commissioner Marcial, the two were given an opportunity to discuss matters privately in the commissioner's office.

Commissioner Marcial confirmed that the two players resolved the issue amicably. "Abueva apologized to the PBA and to Tautuaa and his wife. Nagkausap at nagkaayos na sila," stated Marcial. He sternly warned both players about the consequences, emphasizing that a repetition of such incidents would lead to even more severe penalties.
