In a turn of events, the city of Derna in Libya has been ravaged by floods, resulting in a death toll exceeding 2,000 individuals, with thousands more reported missing. The catastrophe unfolded following the onslaught of the Mediterranean storm "Daniel" on Sunday, which wreaked havoc not only in Derna but also in neighboring regions, including Al-Bayda, Al-Marj, and Sousse.

Osama Hammad, the head of the Libyan government appointed by the House of Representatives, addressed the situation, expressing his shock at the disappearance of entire residential neighborhoods. The floodwaters carried away thousands of residents, leaving behind a landscape of destruction.

In response to this crisis, Hammad urgently called upon medical personnel and medical assistants to rush to Derna to provide aid and support to those affected. The city now faces a path to recovery as it grapples with the aftermath of this natural disaster.
