In response to allegations made by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, China's Coast Guard spokesperson has provided a detailed account of the situation surrounding Ren'ai Jiao, an island in the South China Sea. China asserts that the actions taken were in response to the Philippines' illegal supply of construction materials to Ren'ai Jiao, a territory claimed by both nations.

China argues that Ren'ai Jiao falls within its sovereign territory and accuses the Philippines of repeatedly violating agreements by attempting to occupy the island. China contends that the Philippines' actions go against international law and agreements like the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC). China has urged the Philippines to remove the "grounded" military vessel from Ren'ai Jiao and restore the island to its original state.

Additionally, China challenges the legitimacy of the South China Sea arbitration award, stating that it violates international law, including UNCLOS. China firmly rejects the award and any claims based upon it.

While diplomatic channels were used to advise the Philippines against sending construction materials, the Philippines proceeded with their actions, resulting in the recent confrontation. China asserts that its response was within the boundaries of the law and intended to safeguard its maritime rights and sovereignty.

China expresses its willingness to engage in dialogue with the Philippines to address maritime issues and maintain bilateral relations and maritime stability. Both nations have common understandings about managing maritime disputes, and China remains committed to resolving differences through peaceful means.
