Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian went to the Armed Forces of the Philippines General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City and paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff General Andres C. Centino.
The two officials discussed various issues concerning military-to-military exchange and cooperation, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the region. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation in the defense sector.
The meeting comes as the Philippines and China continue to deepen their economic and diplomatic ties, despite tensions. The most recent incursion was the Chinese Coast Guard’s use of laser weapons in the West Philippine Sea.
Both countries have expressed a willingness to resolve these disputes through peaceful means, and have been engaged in bilateral talks aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the issue.
The meeting between Ambassador Huang and General Centino is seen as a positive step towards further strengthening these ties, and ensuring greater stability and security in the region.
