Reyes shared his thoughts on his decision, acknowledging the challenges he and his loved ones have faced throughout the rigorous FIBA World Cup campaign. He candidly stated, "It's just been brutal, you know. Never mind on me, but on my family and on my loved ones. It's just brutal."

While expressing his unwavering commitment to serving his country, Reyes emphasized the importance of considering his health and family in making this tough decision. He recognized that there comes a point where personal well-being must take precedence.
