Colorum Crackdown Yields P11 Million In Penalties

In a concerted effort to enhance road safety, the Special Action and Intelligence Committee on Transportation (SAICT), formerly known as the InterAgency Council for Traffic - IACT, collaborated with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to apprehend colorum public utility vehicles (PUVs).
Drivers and operators faced penalties totaling P11 million during the initial 10 days of November 2023. The SAICT, fortified by Department Order No. 2023-020, is set to escalate its efforts throughout the month.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has intensified its campaign against colorum PUVs. The total amount of penalties imposed on the drivers and operators of the colorum PUVs is expected to increase in the coming days and before the end of the month, according to the agency.
