Cong Arnie Teves Accuses Government Of Political Persecution
Screengrab from Arnie Teves
In a Facebook video post, Congressman Arnolfo Teves, Jr. expressed his concerns and raised questions about the intentions of the authorities regarding his reported arrival in the country.

Teves, who is being accused in the killing of former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, shared his frustrations with the public, accusing the government of political persecution and abuse of his human rights.

In the video, Teves addressed his followers and fellow citizens, stating, "Mga palanga, mga kababayan, ito na lumabas na. Ito pala ang totoong rason kung bakit nila ako gusto ng umuwi." He went on to reveal that an order had been issued for his interception upon arrival, even before any charges had been filed against him. Teves found it perplexing that such an order was in place, suggesting a premeditated plan against him.

Teves asserted his innocence, emphasizing that he should not be intercepted, arrested, or imprisoned without concrete evidence and due process. He denounced the alleged political persecution he was facing, calling it a blatant abuse of his rights. "Still, I am innocent until proven guilty," Teves stated firmly.

The congressman's video has raised eyebrows and sparked widespread speculation about the motives behind the reported order for his interception. Many have questioned why such measures were taken even before any formal charges were brought against Teves. The video has only served to intensify public curiosity and concern over the situation.

Immigration on High Alert

Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Norman G. Tansingco responded swiftly to Teves' video, issuing a directive to all concerned individuals to be on high alert and vigilant regarding the congressman's reported arrival. Tansingco urged law enforcement authorities to intercept Teves if encountered, seek assistance from other relevant agencies for security, and promptly inform the Commissioner for appropriate action. Additionally, Tansingco requested that anyone with information regarding Teves' arrival notify the Commissioner immediately.

The Commissioner's office has declared a high alert status and mandated that these directives remain in effect until the congressman's actual arrival in the country. Furthermore, all officers and personnel under the Commissioner's supervision have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with these orders.
