The Creamline Cool Smashers are celebrating two of their star players, Ced Domingo and Jia De Guzman, as they take steps towards international volleyball careers.
Creamline's head coach, Sherwin Meneses, and team captain, Alyssa Valdez, are rallying behind their players as they explore new horizons.
Ced Domingo, a standout middle blocker, is the latest Creamline athlete to venture abroad. Last Wednesday, the 24-year-old athlete's exciting journey to international arenas was officially announced.
She has received the full support of Creamline's management and her teammates as she joins the Nakhon Ratchasima volleyball team in Thailand.
This move is reminiscent of Jia De Guzman's earlier foray into international play, as the versatile ace setter signed with Japan's Denso Airybees before the start of the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference.
Coach Sherwin Meneses, who leads the dynamic Creamline squad, expressed his pride in his players' ambitions, stating, "Just like with Jia [De Guzman], we are very supportive of our players. Of course, the opportunity to play in another country is something we won't stop them from pursuing."
Alyssa Valdez, the iconic figure in Philippine volleyball and Creamline's team captain, echoed this sentiment and emphasized the importance of the timing for both De Guzman and Domingo to explore new horizons, even at the peak of their abilities.
De Guzman, widely recognized as the Philippines' top playmaker, is coming off an exceptional performance in the Invitationals, playing a pivotal role in Creamline's silver medal finish. In the same tournament, Domingo's talent and dedication earned her the Second Best Middle Blocker award.
Valdez expressed her joy and unwavering support for her teammates' aspirations, stating, "Opportunities like these don't come along very often, and we are here to support them in reaching their dreams. In our team, we want everyone to grow and achieve the personal growth they desire as athletes."
Valdez further emphasized, "So I believe this is the right time for them to explore new horizons—Jia and Ceddy. We are very, very happy for them, and we eagerly await the opportunity to watch them in action and can't wait to see them back here in the Philippines as well."
With Ced Domingo's absence, Creamline is adjusting its lineup, with Jeanette Panaga and Risa Sato taking on more prominent roles in the team's initial games of the conference.
