The Department of Tourism is launching an investigation on the Love the Philippines campaign launch after discovering that four scenes in their newly released #LoveThePhilippines tourism video was not originally produced and that came from stock footage that were from external sources.

The scenes in question include a lake in Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and an unspecified location that is not within the Philippines.

The DoT issued a statement expressing gratitude for the support received for the Love The Philippines campaign and acknowledging the concerns raised. The department confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the validity of these allegations and gather all relevant facts.

According to the Department of Tourism, their contracted agency, DDB Philippines, was responsible for the creation and publication of the audiovisual presentation (AVP). The agency had assured the department multiple times during meetings and consultations that the materials used were original and owned by them. However, it appears that these assurances were not accurate.

DDB Philippines promptly issued a statement apologizing to Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, the Department of Tourism, and the Filipino people for their oversight. They accepted full responsibility for the use of non-original and foreign stock footage in the AVP, emphasizing that the video was produced at their expense and no public funds were used.

The agency acknowledged that the use of stock footage in mood videos is common practice but admitted that using foreign stock footage in a campaign promoting the Philippines was highly inappropriate and contradictory to the objectives of the Department of Tourism.

DDB Philippines has taken down the AVP from social media and pledged full cooperation with the Department of Tourism's investigation into the matter. They assured the public that this was an isolated incident and expressed hope that it would not overshadow the genuine love and appreciation shown by stakeholders and the public for the Love The Philippines campaign.

As the investigation unfolds, the Department of Tourism remains committed to promoting the country's tourism industry to the highest standard.
