Former President and now Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has responded to recent speculations regarding her removal from the position of Deputy Speaker.

Addressing the rumors, she clarified that she was unable to sign House Resolution No. 1414 expressing support for the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez due to her overseas commitments at the time of its signing.

Arroyo emphasized that her absence from the signing did not reflect a lack of support for Romualdez, as she has consistently backed his leadership.

Arroyo reiterated her unwavering support for Romualdez, citing her longstanding commitment to the preference of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., who had indicated Romualdez as his choice for Speaker.

In a written communication to the President, Arroyo affirmed her dedication to upholding Romualdez's position and confirmed that she had never taken any action to undermine his leadership.

Furthermore, Arroyo dispelled any doubts about her future ambitions within the Congress, asserting that she has relinquished any aspirations for the Speakership in both the current and future sessions.

Despite the recent controversy, she affirmed her allegiance to President Marcos, Jr.'s decision, vowing to continue supporting Romualdez as the preferred House Speaker.

In her statement, Arroyo acknowledged the presence of political intrigue and affirmed her commitment to rise above petty disputes.

She urged a focus on more pressing national concerns, emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration in addressing the challenges facing the nation.
