The proposed ban on the public exhibition of the film "Plane" has sparked controversy in the Philippines. The film, which was approved by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), has been criticized for its portrayal of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

The Directors' Guild of the Philippines, Inc. (DGPI), a group that represents the interests of Filipino filmmakers, has come out against the proposed ban. In a statement, the DGPI argued that banning the film would be an unjustified infringement on free expression.
The DGPI's position is based on the principle that the public should be allowed to make their own choices when it comes to viewing films.

According to the DGPI, any attempts to ban the film would be an attempt to impose the government's views on the public, rather than allowing the public to make their own informed decisions.

Moreover, the DGPI believes that banning the film could set a dangerous precedent. If a film can be banned simply because it portrays the country in a negative light, then any work that is deemed controversial or critical could be at risk of being censored.

Instead of banning the film, the DGPI suggests that the public should be given the opportunity to view the film and make their own judgments.
