The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has officially confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving the House of Representatives (HOR) website that took place on Sunday, 15 October 2023.

The HOR took the website offline to prevent further unauthorized access and reported the incident to the DICT - Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-PH).

CERT-PH has initiated an investigation to determine if any sensitive data has been compromised. In addition, recommendations have been provided to the HOR IT Team to bolster their website's security and prevent future security breaches.

The DICT said that the HOR website will be back online soon, with its security vulnerabilities duly addressed.

Further stages of the investigation, including threat actor attribution and case build-up, will be spearheaded by the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center in close coordination with law enforcement agencies.
