The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued a directive to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), instructing Chief Louie Puracan to immediately conduct a thorough investigation into the collapse of several electric posts in Binondo, Manila, earlier today.
The incident resulted in injuries to three individuals and damage to eight parked vehicles. In response to the incident, the BFP has been directed to coordinate with the private electric company responsible for the electric posts. Their involvement is aimed at providing assistance to the affected individuals and facilitating the efficient clearing of the area.
To prevent similar incidents in the future, the DILG has called upon all local government units (LGUs) to conduct inspections of electric posts, construction sites, billboards, and other similar installations that might be susceptible to collapse during heavy rains or adverse weather conditions. In line with this, a memorandum circular will be issued to ensure strict compliance and prompt action.
