Negros Oriental - In a significant development in the ongoing investigation of the killing of Governor Roel Degamo, four of the accused may have recanted their previous testimonies, but new DNA evidence has emerged linking them to the crime. DNA samples taken from the accused individuals were found to match with samples recovered from the shooters' vehicle and the crime scene.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) conducted a thorough examination of the DNA specimens recovered from the vehicle used by the assailants, as well as the blood stains found within Governor Degamo's compound. The investigation team obtained blood samples from the shooters, who had sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. These samples were then compared with the other specimens collected from the vehicle.

The results of the DNA examination have positively identified three individuals in connection with the crime. Osmundo Rivero, John Louie Gonyon, and Winrich Isturis have been linked to the killing of Governor Degamo through DNA evidence. The revelation strengthens the case against the accused, despite their earlier attempts to retract their testimonies.

The DNA findings provide a crucial breakthrough in the investigation, substantiating the suspicions surrounding the involvement of the accused. This evidence significantly bolsters the prosecution's case against the individuals charged with the heinous crime.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to gather additional evidence and build a comprehensive case against all those involved in the assassination. The investigators remain committed to seeking justice for Governor Roel Degamo and his family, who have been enduring an immense loss since the tragic incident.

As the investigation progresses, it is anticipated that more evidence will come to light, shedding further light on the circumstances surrounding the killing of Governor Degamo.
