MANILA - Tropical Storm Dodong, which has maintained its strength, has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of this afternoon, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 4:00 PM, the center of Tropical Storm Dodong was located approximately 305 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, with coordinates 18.3°N and 117.6°E. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. The central pressure is recorded at 994 hPa. Dodong is currently moving southeastward at a slow pace.
While no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) are hoisted at this time, Dodong is expected to continue enhancing the Southwest Monsoon. This weather system will bring occasional to frequent rains over the western portions of Luzon. The public is advised to refer to Weather Advisory #6 for the Southwest Monsoon issued earlier today and the 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast released at 4:00 PM for more information.
Severe winds are still possible in some areas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon. Although all Wind Signals have been lifted, gusty conditions may persist, especially in coastal and upland/mountainous areas.
Today, the affected areas include Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, the eastern portion of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Aurora, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas. Tomorrow, the areas expected to experience gusty conditions are Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the southern portion of Quezon. On Monday, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, and Antique may still be affected by severe winds.
Coastal waters along the northern and western seaboards of Luzon and Western Visayas are under a marine gale warning due to the influence of Dodong and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon. More information can be found in Gale Warning #2 issued at 5:00 PM today. In terms of the track and intensity outlook, Dodong is forecasted to move generally northwestward today and exit the PAR.
Afterward, it will turn west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea for the rest of the forecast period. The storm is expected to steadily intensify and may reach typhoon category by Monday.
Given these developments, the public and concerned disaster risk reduction and management offices are urged to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of life and property. Residents in areas highly or very highly susceptible to the mentioned hazards are advised to heed evacuation and other instructions from local officials. To stay updated on heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their area, the public is advised to monitor products issued by their local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
This marks the final tropical cyclone bulletin for Dodong unless re-entry occurs. Further updates will be incorporated into the 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast at 4:00 AM Sunday.
