Department of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla addressed the recent wave of recantations surrounding the high-profile massacre case, shedding light on what he believes to be manipulative tactics orchestrated by spin doctors and powerful individuals.

Secretary Remulla minced no words as he criticized the alleged involvement of a Marvin Miranda, whom he accused of orchestrating the efforts to coerce witnesses into recanting their previous testimonies.

He asserted that Miranda played a pivotal role in the cover-up, stating, "Now you can see that Miranda, true to form, as we said, was the director of everything but the director of the massacre was again directing the activities around how they were going to make everybody recant. So andon na naman ang papel ng Miranda."

Moreover, Secretary Remulla called out the paradoxical nature of the claims made by the recanting witnesses. While they alleged torture within the confines of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), they simultaneously filed petitions to be retained there. Secretary Remulla saw this as a contradiction, questioning the credibility of their statements. He asserted, "I think that is a paradox of sorts. It doesn't really happen that way. When you are tortured in one place, I don't think you want to go back to it."

The Secretary of Justice further asserted that the motive behind these recantations was driven by substantial monetary influence from Congressman Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves, whom he described as a gambling lord. Secretary Remulla emphasized that the government's pursuit of justice in this case was for the benefit of the Filipino people, not to cater to the interests of a wealthy individual.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Secretary Remulla revealed that investigations were underway regarding a suspected cohort, a certain Eric Gallaga, who was reportedly accompanying Congressman Teves in Timor-Leste. Gallaga is believed to have played a significant role in a terrorist organization linked to the individuals involved in the massacre.
