DOTr Denies Accusations That PUV Concerns Are Not Addressed
In response to the accusations made by Mr. Valbuena of Manibela, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) firmly denies the claims that it has failed to address the concerns of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators. The DOTr, along with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC), asserts that they have been actively engaged in consultations with PUV drivers and operators to address their various issues.

One of the main concerns raised by PUV drivers and operators is the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP). The DOTr, LTFRB, and OTC have been conducting consultations over the past weeks to ensure that the concerns regarding the LPTRP and other related matters are properly addressed. The LTFRB has consistently implemented its mandate based on the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG), ensuring fairness for both corporations and cooperatives.

The DOTr, LTFRB, and OTC emphasize their openness and willingness to engage in dialogues with any group that has legitimate concerns. They vow to address these concerns through consultations and forums, providing an opportunity for constructive discussions and resolution.
In response to Manibela's allegations, the DOTr challenges the group to present concrete proof and evidence to support their claims. It questions the motives behind the planned "strike," suggesting that it is intended to garner media attention and public sympathy rather than genuinely address the legitimate concerns of PUV drivers and operators.

While the DOTr acknowledges Manibela's right to stage protests, it asserts that the agency will not be held hostage. It emphasizes that the interests of the entire country and innocent commuters should not be subjected to blackmail every time this particular group does not achieve its desired outcomes.
