Drag queen Naia will host a fundraising drag show this Sunday (October 8,2023) to support fellow artist Pura Luka Vega. The event will take place at the Brooklyn Warehouse in Manila, featuring a lineup of drag performances and artists selling merchandise.

Pura Luka Vega whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente, was arrested last Wednesday October 4,2023 as it was connected to her performance where there was a punk rock rendition of the Catholic hymn "Ama Namin" while impersonating Jesus Christ. This performance sparked complaints, leading to her apprehension.

In response to this incident, Naia took to social media, announcing their intention to stand by Pura Luka Vega and fight back with art. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Naia wrote, "This Sunday, we will stand by our sister @puralukavega and fight fire with art! ❤️‍🔥 We will have artists selling merch and drag performances throughout the noon until the evening ✨ Drag is not a crime; art cannot be censored. Spread the word #freepuralukavega."
