Earthquake Strikes Sarangani, Thousands Affected

A powerful magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Friday, November 17, impacting 16,567 families and 79,595 individuals, according to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The calamity caused significant damage to 5,387 homes and 398 infrastructure units.

As of November 27 2023 ,The aftermath reveals ongoing challenges with 138 aftershocks ranging from 1.4 to 4.9 in magnitude and intensity levels I-IV.

The toll includes 1 confirmed death, 8 pending validation, and 37 injuries (4 confirmed, 33 pending validation). The earthquake left 5,387 houses damaged and 398 infrastructure units in need of repair.

The situation remains fluid as authorities work to assess and address the impact on the affected communities.
