Former Mayor and Congressman Edward Hagedorn, who served Puerto Princesa City and Palawan, passed away on the morning of October 3, 2023. He was 76 years old.
The Provincial Government of Palawan, through its Public Information Office (PIO), shared the news, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the former Congressman. The official statement released by the PIO lauded his commitment and patriotism, noting that his legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of Palaweños.
The former Mayor's office also released a statement, acknowledging the profound impact of Ed Hagedorn's service to Puerto Princesa City. He held the position of Mayor for 21 years, from July 1, 1992, to June 30, 2013. During his tenure, he spearheaded numerous initiatives that transformed the city's landscape.
Some of his notable achievements during his mayoralty include the inclusion of Puerto Princesa as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, the establishment of the City Baywalk, the construction of the City Coliseum, and the completion of the state-of-the-art New City Hall.
