Ethiopia And Philippines Celebrate 46 Years Of Diplomatic Relations And Discuss Future Collaborations

Ethiopia and the Philippines mark the 46th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, a relationship that was officially established on February 7, 1977. Over the years, these nations have solidified their bond through bilateral agreements and promising discussions.
Since the inception of their diplomatic relations, Ethiopia and the Philippines have signed two pivotal agreements. The first, focusing on Air Services, was inked on October 8, 2014, in Manila. Building on this foundation, the second agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the Establishment of a Bilateral Consultations Mechanism, was signed on October 11, 2016, also in Manila.
As the partnership between these nations flourishes, additional agreements are under consideration. These agreements encompass a range of vital sectors, including Information and Communications Technology, Promotion and Protection of Investments, Labor Cooperation, Visa Waiver for Diplomatic Passport Holders, Culture and Tourism, as well as Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion.
The economic exchange between the two countries has demonstrated a promising trajectory. According to the 2022 trade records, the bilateral trade volume witnessed a total of US$3.38 million. Exports from both nations accounted for US$3.13 million, while imports stood at US$0.26 million, showcasing a balanced and dynamic trading relationship.
