Filipino boxing sensation Eumir Marcial has announced his withdrawal from an upcoming professional fight in the United States, opting instead to represent the Philippines in the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics. Marcial made the announcement August 26 2023, expressing his commitment to bringing Olympic glory to his country.

Marcial, who is now in the Philippines, is set to join the national boxing team in a rigorous training camp to be held in Australia. Before the Paris Olympics, he will also be participating in the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games in China. This event holds significant importance as it serves as an Olympic qualifying tournament.

The decision to prioritize his Olympic journey was made possible through the support of his promoters, MP Promotions and TGB Promotions. Marcial extended his gratitude to Mr. Manny Pacquiao, Mr. Al Haymon, and MP Promotions President Mr. Sean Gibbons for granting him the opportunity to chase his Olympic dream, despite contractual obligations in the professional realm.

Preparing for the imminent Asian Games in September, Marcial faces a new challenge in the form of transitioning to a higher weight division. He is moving from the familiar 75kg middleweight category to the more demanding 80kg light heavyweight division. This bold move underscores Marcial's unwavering determination to conquer new horizons in his amateur boxing journey.
