President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission arrived at Kalayaan Grounds, Malacañan Palace on July 31, 2023, for her official visit to the Philippines. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended a warm welcome to her, and she was honored with arrival ceremonies and a guest book signing at the Reception Hall.
The purpose of President von der Leyen's visit is to enhance the relationship between the European Union (EU) and the Philippines, focusing on cooperation in various sectors like trade, economy, development, maritime, climate and environment, space cooperation, and digital connectivity.
