The family of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Marjorette Garcia, who tragically lost her life while working in Saudi Arabia under unclear circumstances, is seeking answers and assistance.
According to an interview conducted by Bombo Radyo Dagupan with Titay Biay Gonzales, the mother of the deceased OFW, the last contact they had with Marjorette was on September 15.
However, on September 17, they were shocked to receive news that her employer informed them of her passing and plans to repatriate her remains to the Philippines. Their concern now lies in how to bring Marjorette back to the country, as her passport is reportedly not being released by her employer.
Confirmation of Marjorette's passing only came to light on September 27. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued a statement expressing their condolences and pledging support to Marjorette's grieving family.
The DMW, in collaboration with the Migrant Workers Office in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia (MWO-Al Khobar), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), is actively involved in an ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Marjorette's untimely demise. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to facilitate the repatriation of her remains.
