Starting on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, a new fare adjustment will take effect on the LRT-2 system.
According to the approved adjustments by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the minimum boarding fee will increase to P13.29 from the previous P11, and an additional P1.21 will be charged per kilometer of travel from the previous P1.
For Stored Value Card Fare, The current P12 minimum fare using a stored value or "beep card" will now be P14. The maximum fare (from Recto Station to Antipolo Station) will be P33, up from the previous P28.
While Single Journey Ticket (SJT) Fare, For SJT users, the minimum fare will remain at P15. The maximum fare (from Recto Station to Antipolo Station) will be P35, up from the current P30.
The DOTr stated that the additional fare will be used to improve facilities and services on the LRT-2 line. This is the first fare adjustment for the line since 2015.
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will continue to provide a 20 percent discount to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and students riding the LRT-2.
Passengers are advised by LRTA to use stored value cards or beep cards to save on fares.
