Akari Head Coach Jorge Souza de Brito has made an exciting announcement regarding the addition of middle blocker Fifi Sharma to the Chargers' roster. Sharma, who previously played for De La Salle University in the UAAP, is set to embark on the next chapter of her volleyball career as she nears the completion of her undergraduate degree.
Standing at an impressive 5-foot-11, Sharma caught the attention of spectators as she attended the Chargers' recent match against PLDT at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. Wearing an Akari shirt, she proudly displayed her support for the team. While fans eagerly await her official debut, it appears that Sharma will not be able to join the squad for the ongoing conference due to the roster submission deadline having already passed.
Nonetheless, Coach De Brito's excitement for Sharma's arrival is palpable. He has closely monitored her progress and is well aware of her exceptional talent. Sharma's inclusion in the initial 23-woman player pool for the 2022 AVC Cup for Women, which consisted of collegiate stars, further solidified her reputation as a promising athlete.
However, a change in plans resulted in Creamline representing the country in the tournament, with players from National University making up the final team, achieving the Philippines' highest finish ever at sixth place.
Recognizing Sharma's skill and potential, Coach De Brito expresses his anticipation for her performance in the upcoming PVL matches. He is determined to develop her abilities, ensuring that she reaches a high level of play and has the opportunity to showcase her talent on the court.
