Former DFA Sec. Who Dedicated Career to Defend Claims in West Philippine Sea, Passes Away

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Republic of the Philippines is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario, who passed away while en route to San Francisco. Secretary Del Rosario was a highly respected diplomat and a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the Philippines' foreign policy and national security.
Secretary Del Rosario was known for his unwavering commitment to protecting and advancing the interests of the Philippines and promoting the rights and welfare of Filipinos both in the Philippines and abroad. He served as the Philippine Ambassador to the United States from 2001 to 2006, where he represented the country with distinction and helped strengthen bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States.
In February 2011, President Benigno S. Aquino III appointed Secretary Del Rosario as the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until March 2016.
