Jefferson Gallos Tumbado, the former executive assistant of LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz III, has released an affidavit of recantation, retracting the corruption allegations he made against certain officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
In the affidavit, Tumbado clarified that his previous accusations against Guadiz, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Malacañang were “unintentional and misguided.”
In the affidavit, Tumbado stated that his allegations, made during a press conference on October 9, 2023, were impulsive and irrational, influenced by poor decision-making and misguided encouragement from unidentified individuals.
He said that he had no intention of tarnishing the integrity and reputation of anyone involved. Tumbado acknowledged that there are issues within the agency that warrant investigation and accountability, but he retracted his specific claims against the aforementioned officials.
Tumbado apologized to Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III, Secretary Jaime Bautista of the Department of Transportation, and the Office of the President.
